One of the things I like the most about writing is world-building. Getting to create not just a story and some characters, but the whole environment they will grow, love, and suffer in… feels like magic. Like I can somehow travel anywhere in the world and, hopefully, take my readers with me.
But worldbuilding is not only about the physical setting for me, it’s also about the emotions and the history behind that world, the events that shaped it, and the reactions it brings out in the characters, the readers, and myself.
#ProyectoExtraños‘ world is one we’re very familiar with, but at the same time, it feels alien, changed irrevocably by the decisions past people made. And we are those past people, the ones who could have done something but didn’t, so there is an emotional tie, too.

Una de las cosas que más me gusta de escribir es el world-building. Crear no sólo una historia y unos personajes, sino también el entorno entero en el que van a crecer, amar, y sufrir… es como magia. Como si de alguna manera pudiera viajar a cualquier lugar y, con algo de suerte, llevarme a mis lectores conmigo.
Pero el world-building, para mí, no es sólo crear el entorno físico. Tiene mucho que ver con las emociones y la historia detrás de ese mundo, los eventos que lo han llevado a ser como es, y las reacciones que genera en los personajes, los lectores, y en mí.
El mundo de #ProyectoExtraños‘ es uno que nos es muy familiar y a la vez ajeno, cambiado irrevocablemente por la decisiones que tomó la gente de su pasado. Y nosotros somos esa gente, los que pudieron haber hecho algo y no lo hicieron, así que hay también un fuerte lazo emocional.
